Café Chair

Price range: R2 860 through R3 510

The Café Chair is the quintessential chair of this genre. Simple and robust, it is manufactured to handle a range of outdoor settings from patios to busy cafés and shared spaces. The simple folding metal frame facilitates economical storage, without sacrificing stability.

Its origins can be traced to the Simplex Chair, by Edouard Leclerc, produced in 1889, the year the Eiffel Tower was erected. Designed to meet the needs of the French lemonade sellers of the 19th Century, who required a folding chair that could easily be packed away to avoid seating tax by the authorities.

A perfect companion to the Metal or Timber Café table. the steam-bent wooden backrest provides the comfort required of a commercial seat.

Design – 19th C European.
