Established in 1992 hope garden furniture is inspired and led by designs from the past that capture the spirit and essence of traditional artisanal fabrication.
The roots of hope’s production lie in the Traditional Range, based on a collection of original wrought iron European garden furniture from the turn of the 20th century.
Manufactured utilising refurbished machinery from the 1950s they are hand assembled in the blacksmith tradition with hammer and anvil, by a small team of trained artisans.
The thin and tendril like forms belie their hidden strength that the carefully engineered forms give them. Pared down and practical these design have been tried and tested for more than a century of use in tea rooms, pubs and beer gardens from Provence to Penzance.
Referencing the constructionist character of the Bauhaus era, 3 is a realisation of an original Contemporary Range of purposeful furniture that explores complex bending elementary forms and asymmetrical tension.
Joining the fold is the Origami collection – based on an iconic midcentury design but reimagined with an intentional robust outdoor use, it explores seemingly weightless design in a combination of tubular steel, canvas and wood.
The experience gained from 30 years of the dedicated pursuit of manufacturing our items to the benchmark of quality, established by the original samples, have become the hallmark of our company name.
All products are manufactured in Cape Town, South Africa.
