Take some of my favourite things – buchu, olives, a river and good linen and you’ll come up with The Little Farm on a River.Throw in the Hawequa Mountains, between Bainskloof and Du Toits Kloof, and you’ll have one happy camper, except that you don’t have to camp!
This self-catering accommodation, near Wellington, offers a farm house and lodge that can accommodate up to 12 people. If you are the more industrious type, the attic is well suited to small meetings, with a large television and wifi. This space also makes The Little Farm perfect for yoga and writer’s retreats or similar. If you are simply looking for a well-deserved rest then you can replace the noise of city life with that of the stream and the birds. Be sure to pack your bicycles and hiking boots for excursions through the fynbos terrain. The farm also harvests buchu in the hot months and the olive groves are testament to their own olive oil.
Start your day with a coffee on a florence armchair and then slouch into one of the hope recliners to catch up on the latest novel. Hopefully by the time you have turned the last page someone will have lit the fire in the boma so that you can just transport yourself to a recliner bench!
